HARMFUL FOR BODY

Chemical activity in muscles and internal organs produces heat. This must be dispersed or body temperature will rise dangerously high.

Most heat is lost through the skin by radiation, convection perspiration and sweating. Radiation and convection are high when heat makes blood vessels near the skin dilate. Perspiration is continuous: about 17 oz of water is lost daily by this evaporation from the skin. In sweating, millions of sweat glands in the skin release water containing salt and chemical wastes. Seating is triggered by a slight rise in body temperature.
